Chronic Fatigue management

During this episode, Bev shares her chronic fatigue journey and where she's at now, what the causes have been (multiple), what's helped her and she did a Q&A answering several of your questions that came in on instagram, thank you for those.

“Anyone with chronic fatigue looking for a safe, low impact way to move their body? I've been doing Pilates with Bev for nearly 3 years to keep my body moving in a way I can tolerate, yes, I have to rest afterwards but it's manageable and I feel better for having done it.

Bev is really good at giving lots of difficulty options so everyone can work at their own level, and it doesn't matter if you're working at level 4 in some exercises one week and level 1 for all of them another because that's all you have the energy for, she's all about listening to your body and doing what's right for you at that moment. You can rest when you need, or visualise an exercise or join in at whatever level feels good and safe. PLUS, it's all online so you don't even need to leave the house!”

back definitely a bit dodge to reduce back pain to feel good

“Won’t make Pilates today - need it as back definitely a bit dodge.

Then drove into central London and back went into spasm so person I was with had to take over driving.

I can lie and stand ok - it’s when I sit that it hurts one side of my back/ buttock

😬

Taking ibuprofen/ paracetamol and rubbed Ibuleve on it before having a rest

It started last week when I bent down awkwardly to take the washing out of the tumble drier

Have booked appt with Osteopath for Friday in case it’s still no better

What else would you suggest?

My answer; Here’s some of my tips, but remember this is for a client with over 20 years pilates experience. I gave some basic breathing & tiny stretches & have a lie down

✔️ Do have a lie down, maybe just on the bed. Knees bent.

Breathe naturally

Or gently x10

(Won’t share the stretches here as it’s very personal to each person)

It’s safe for me to breathe & stretch

Bath /

Nice shower

Listen to your body

Recommend use bed rather than mat until you can tell you’re ready for floor

Ps ❌ avoid bending

❌ avoid lifting

❌ do not bend & twist

✔️ do bend your knees, keep your back straight

✔️ tummy in, be conscious of how you move

✔️ use your pelvic floor muscles for extra support

✔️ do rest

✔️ do walk & move

✔️ do shoulder circles & neck stretches

✔️ breathe!!

✔️ gentle stretches

✔️ do listen to your body

✔️ this too shall pass

✔️ Move like a robot !!

❌ Oh & don’t sit or stand like a banana 🍌

How is your back & you? Did you find any of todays tips helpful?

Ps please note always consult your Doctor or practitioner when you’re experiencing pain

Feel stronger happy & calm

Love Bev
